Objective Problem:
Constructing a complete structurally sound, high-power rocket motor compatible chassis to get my Level 1 rocket certification.
Results:
Successfully got my level one rocket certification.
Delay charge was adjusted so the ejection charge would fire near the time predicted by OpenRocket to be near the apogee of flight.
Flight recovered successfully.
Constraints:
Limited time to construct rocket due to delay in shipment of parts.
Had to work under pressure in order to deliver a rocket that would pass certification.
My Contribution:
Constructed the entire thing.
Simulated all necessary data
Estimated altitude
Estimated velocity
Estimated apogee.
Team Description:
There are no teams allowed to assist with a Tripoli certification.
Testing:
Chute deployment system.
Durability from impact
Engineering Design Process:
Kit built from the IRIS 4" Loc Precision rocket kit. -I took very little creative liberties for the sake of time.
Fabrication Process:
Epoxy
Screws
Other similar construction materials were used.
No electronics were utilized for this project.
Next Steps:
Due to the durability of the first test, this rocket was deemed safe and ready for an immediate trial of level two certification.
