How to handle a J-class motor
Properly using a delay grain drill
Properly simulating altitude data in OpenRocket
Objective Problem:
Constructing a complete structurally sound high power, rocket motor compatible chassis to get my level two rocket certification
Results:
Initial attempt failed due to improper timing of delay grain. Deployed too soon which caused the shock cord to zipper body
Repair was made but opted to use newer rocket
Constraints:
Rocket must be able to withstand the extra force and altitude from a J-class motor or stronger
My Contribution:
Constructed the entire thing.
Simulated all necessary data:
Estimated altitude
Estimated velocity
Estimated apogee.
Next Steps:
Two more rocket launches with electronically deployed recovery systems in order to proceed to an L3 rocket project
